The judging panel was carefully selected to ensure that it represents a broad cross section of expertise and knowledge in the music scene in Cambridge and further afield as well as expertise on particular genres.
Who are the five judges who make the decisions behind the NMG Awards?
The judging panel will be chaired by Tim Willett of Off The Chart Promotions who represent a selection of local musicians and put on regular gig nights in Cambridge including Cambridge 105’s NMG Sessions. Tim is best known as a radio presenter, supporting Unsigned music in Cambridge for the past two and a half years through his New Music Generator initiative. Tim presents the programme on Cambridge 105 every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm and also hosts STAR Talent on Star Radio every Tuesday evening from 10pm.
Joining Tim on the judging panel are:
Nicola Holland of Skinny Kitten Events, who has orchestrated the Cambridge Band Competition for the past few years, and has been instrumental in the running of volunteer events including Strawberry Fair and Oxjam in Cambridge.
Gary Brown, organizer of the popular Junction Fiver Night, vocalist in Ska band Big 10 and supporter of up and coming young bands in the area.
Joe Weaver, the manager and music promoter, best known for working with Lewis Mokler and a well-known figure on the Suffolk Music Scene.
Helen Meissner, a promoter and supporter of folk music across the Eastern region, and creator of the Folkstock festival.
Seymour Quigley, promoter and guitarist/vocalist in Bury band Horse Party.
